Holtville, California - Charger Girls Schedule Special Appearance at 18th Annual Holtville Rib Cook-Off, Saturday January 24, 2009 hosted by the Holtville Athletic Club will take place in Holtville, California. This year’s event is scheduled one weekend prior to the Super Bowl.

The Charger Girls are the official dance team of the San Diego Chargers produced by Olmstead Productions. The team was formed in 1990, and has since become one of the most premiere dance teams in the NFL. The team is currently comprised of 28 professional entertainers, career women and college students. Although being a Charger Girl is a part time job, much time and hard work is devoted to the position. As an official representative of the Chargers' organization, the Charger Girls are very active in the community. They have donated their time to such charity groups as the Junior Seau Foundation, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children's Hospital, the American Diabetes Association, and D.A.R.E., to name a few.

The Charger Girls have traveled extensively including trips to Sydney, Australia, Tokyo, Japan, and Berlin, Germany. Because of their growing popularity, the Charger Girls have appeared on numerous television shows on the local, national and international level including "E" Entertainment Televisions and were rated the "Best Cheerleaders in the NFL" by Sport Magazine.

The non-profit organization The Holtville Athletic Club has become a major benefactor to Imperial County organizations and causes. The 28 member group is primarily known by the Rib Cook-Off and its ambassador the Old Fashioned Ice Cream machine capable of turning out in excess of 40 Gallons an hour of delicious old fashioned ice cream. Since inception the Holtville Athletic Club’s mission has been to financially assist Imperial Valley’s youth groups and athletic activities through non-profit fund raising efforts. The efforts include member’s personal commitments to the organization as well as seeking corporate assistance. The Holtville Athletic Club’s future will be guaranteed by the continued dedication of volunteers and the future presence of deserving sports associations, students, and local children. Today’s beneficiaries will become tomorrow’s volunteers just as today’s volunteers were yesterday’s beneficiaries. Evidenced by the hundreds of thousands of dollars and in like kind work put into the local communities by the organization.
