Ernie Strahm Considers Career Change PDF Print E-mail

Tuesday, January 10th 2006, two sons, two fathers, one grandson and one grandfather descended upon the Holtville licensed KGBA FM 100.1 Radio Station to spread the word. That group was comprised of Holtville natives Ernie, Clifford, & Brian Strahm, on a mission to help promote the Rib Cook-Off.

Ernie at his charming best casually described the Rib Cook-Off by stating “The event seems like it gets bigger and better every year.” Then he put on his best political hat by adding, “The Athletic Club is working to get shorter lines at the event.” Mr. Strahm offered no further explanation on how the lines would be kept shorter, but suggested that everyone should come out and see the new lines for themselves.

Clifford Strahm the oldest of Ernie’s three sons exclaimed “Great idea”, when asked about the event being changed to a Saturday. “Saturday simply works out a lot better for everyone involved,” he continued. Clifford’s son Brian added, “Saturday will make it easier.” Brian Strahm went on to add, “If you don’t come to this year’s Rib Cook-Off, you are going to miss one of the greatest events of the year.

When I had a chance to catch up to Ernie I asked him, “Ernie what did you think of being on the radio?” Ernie stated, “I was a little nervous at first, but once we got started we all had a great time with it.” He went on to conclude, “If I were five years younger I might give Dick Clark or Carroll Buckley of KXO a run for their money.”
